capsFI Design Challengecaps

Hey guys!

Here are my designs for the FI Challenge of designing an Air Application for CNN.  I wanted to keep the same feel and look of the CNN website by using their colors of black, red, white, and a few grays.  I wanted to focus on keeping it small with having just enough information since it would be a simple up to the minute application that you would launch off your desktop.  If they wanted to read full articles / find out more about images or videos, they would be able to click the link provided to go straight to the site.

Enjoy!

capsNewest Navcaps

Here is the newest navigation. As we discussed it is going to change a little. As the user goes through picking the styles, the post its will unstack and actual go around 180 degress. Making it work like an actual swatch reel. My final comps should be up later tonight/tomorrow morning.

capsDemo Video Playercaps

Here’s a video player ready to be skinned, for the introduction demo on how to use Postdipity.

We can easily skin it and add section buttons so the user can skip around to learn how to do different things.
I threw on a chalkboard skin and added 3 random section buttons just to show how it can work.

capsScale and Rotate Examplecaps

While surfing through the internet to come up with my own inspirations on a separate project, I stumbled upon this website that is a great example for our Scale and Rotate assets.

It’s easy to understand which function does what on the actual object.

http://www.typeisart.com/

The circle that extends out from the object is the rotating tool and demonstrates it as you roll over it, an arrow attaches to the object showing “rotate.” The square represents the scale tool in the corner of the object. But also notice that with the square you have arrows pointing outwards showing it is the “scaling” object.

Simple but will get the job done :)

Let me know what you all think.

P.s. I also like the demo in the beginning with the “white hand” showing how to use the tools. Another example for our own tutorial of how things can be done…
