capsNew Avatar System (Beta)caps

Hey all,

Here’s the skinned avatar system.
There is no body, don’t try to edit that. It will be added when I get the assets.

Click on the pieces themselves to edit them, or the arrows. Use the categories below the image to change which arrows are showing.

Enjoy.

capsWeb Thumbnailer Updatecaps

New to the thumbnailer:

1)  The user can type in any format of the url.  Example:  http://www.google.com or http://google.com or google.com -  if they type in something like just “google” it will send a default website image not available thumbnail.

2)  If the thumbnailer does not pick up an image for the url given ( such as the website has no data, or is blank, ect. ) the thumbnailer creates a “thumbnail could not be created” thumbnail and send that to the requester.

3)  The thumbnailer can take 0 arguments to 5 arguments as inputs for the thumbnails.

More to come!

capsWe got a skin on skin thing babycaps

Alright, so I’ve skinned the login and registration pages which are viewable at:

http://nova.it.rit.edu/~scs0563/NMTP/NMTP.html

if there are any changes you would like me (us) to make, just post a comment, alvin and I will continue working with this later today to make sure that everything is ready for the presention.  I have noticed that there seems to be some strangeness going on when initially loading the images.  Once they have been loaded they work just fine, however I think I may know the problem and will try to fix it later tonight.

capsThumbnailer Updatecaps

Hey All,

The Thumbnailer is ready to be implemented into the form/page/area that the designers are creating.  Once I have the plan from the designers I will finish implementing the security and variable checks.

capsTraversing XML with PHP – The Easy Waycaps

capsPassing and Receiving PHP Variablescaps

Hey Everyone,

Ive written an article about how to pass and receive php variables easily within flex 3 using mxml, php and actionscript 3.0. Ive made this information easily available on my blog for syntax highlighting. Please check this out to see how simple it is to incorporate backend data with the front end user interface. I hope to expand this functionality for the rest of our project, it will come in handy when executing simple information from the user; such as their username, name, and login authentication. Let me know what you think!  Click Here

capsNotes from meet and share lecture.caps

In the first meeting, the designer and developer we talked with had some good ideas:

Poll / Attendance posts for questions or events – allow users to create interactive posts where other users can vote or say they are/are not attending an event. (I like this idea a lot)

Dynamic posts – RSS or the user can set the caption/text to change after a certain period of time.

Limited user post count – admin setting: limit the number of posts a type of user can have, ie if they can only have 30, when they post #31 then #1 of theirs gets deleted. A system of automated clean up. (Also a good idea)

Heard this in the 2nd meeting as well – doodads changing based on theme automatically – magnets for chalkboard/pins for corkboard/etc.

Upload your own stickers – allow users to upload transparent image files to add to the sticker collection. (Cool idea, back burner for implementation?)

capsDynamic Avatar Systemcaps

Happy Sunday all,

Here’s a quick proof of concept for the avatar system (shrunken down to fit in the blog). Currently it only has eyes implemented, but the beauty of it is the dynamic nature of the code. It can currently support any number of eyes from 1 to 24 (any more than that and I would need to add a scrolling system, so you can scroll down in the selection box and see the rest). The code reads how many eyes there are, and creates that many options. So if the designers ever want to add/remove eyes (or other features) they just add the image to the movie clip and they’re done.

Also the features are drag-able, so you can position the eyes where ever you want, and we can easily limit where they can be dragged to, even for each different set of eyes (though I’m not sure why we’d want that).

Anyway, enjoy, and let me know of any thoughts/ideas. I’ll bring the full size one with me to the next meeting so you can all see it better.

– Tony.
